Under the hard hat: Meet Jason and Jordan, our father and son duo!

As a family-owned business, our team is committed to delivering the ‘Beal Difference’ to our customers. Our site teams ensure that every home is built and finished to the highest standards of quality.

We’ve been speaking to some of our team to find out more about their roles and this month we spoke to father and son duo, Jason Foster and Jordan Taylor, who are both Assistant Site Managers.

Jordan joined Beal almost two years ago and he is now based at The Greenways in Goole, whilst, dad Jason has just celebrated his three-year anniversary with Beal and is currently based at Holderness Chase in Preston.

Father and son duo, Jason Foster, pictured right, and Jordan Taylor, are both Assistant Site Managers.

Q) Tell us about your roles at Beal – what does a typical day look like?

Jordan: The role of the Assistant Site Manager is to support the Manager in running the site. We need to make sure everything is running in accordance with the programme and support our colleagues working on site.

Jason: I usually get to site early to get my laptop work and paperwork done, because the minute everyone arrives it gets very busy, from checking that everyone has signed in, to ensuring everyone has got all the materials and drawings they need for the day.

Q) What do you enjoy most about your job?

Jordan: Buying a house is the biggest purchase most people will ever make, so the whole team puts all their effort into making it perfect for them. When you see the smiling faces of the customers as they move in, you know the hard work has been worth it.

Jason: I agree, the best part is handing over a really high-quality home and seeing the customer moving in. It gives you a real sense of pride.

Q) Tell us about your background and how you got into the role you now have?

Jordan: I started my career as an Apprentice Design Engineer at Kingspan in Hull, which included a variety of plumbing and heating design work.

I then moved to the National House Building Council (NHBC) where I worked as a building inspector for over four years before moving to Beal Homes.

Jason: My background is actually in repairing cars. I started my career as an apprentice vehicle spray painter and worked my way up to becoming a vehicle workshop controller. That involved organising people’s workloads, checking parts, checking vehicles throughout the repair process and carrying out a final quality check.

Later in my career I moved to Siemens Gamesa in Hull where I became a Blade Technician, before spending a year within a selected team fitting out the factory with new wooden constructed platforms which involved construction and following architects drawings.

Jordan, left, is based at The Greenways in Goole, whilst dad Jason is at Holderness Chase in Preston.

Q) What attracted you to join Beal Homes?

Jordan: During my time at the NHBC I got to know the Beal team really well.

I knew that Beal Homes had a very good reputation for building high-quality homes and I really liked the close knit, family-run aspect of the business.

My Dad had been working for Beal for about a year at that point, so I’d heard good things from him too, so it was a no brainer to come here.

Jason: When I joined Beal I was looking to take on a different, more challenging role and I’ve certainly found that – you learn something new every day.

I knew Beal was a very reputable housebuilder and had won a number of awards, so I knew it would be a good business to be part of.

Q) What do you like to do when you’re not at work?

Jordan: I’ve been doing karate since I was a six and still do it now. I have been part of the England Squad and represented England in four European Championships and one World Championships. I now have my own Karate Club in Welton and Willerby.

Jason: I like to go on walks in the countryside and I’ve completed the Yorkshire Three Peaks hiking challenge.

Q) What’s one thing your colleagues wouldn’t know about you

Jordan: That I do karate!

Jason: I played American Football for Humberside and spent a season playing for Pontefract when Humberside collapsed due to financial difficulties.
