Meet Kennedy, one of our Selections Design Consultants

When you buy a Beal home, we work with you to create the home you’ve always dreamed of. In our Design Lounge, our team works side by side with you to bring your vision to life.

We’ve been speaking to our team of Selections Design Consultants to find out more about how they help customers turn their ideas into reality.

This week we spoke to Kennedy Steel, who joined our team earlier this year, bringing with her 10 years of design experience. Here’s what she had to say …

Kennedy has been working in design for the past ten years.

Tell us about your job – What does a typical day look like?

I generally work on the layout and floor plans, helping customers choose things such as electrical sockets, light fittings and radiators. We select the style, position and quantity together.

A typical day begins with fully explaining the process to the customers and allowing them plenty of time to explore the Design Lounge, and answering any questions they may have.

Customers usually visit my colleague Amy first, who helps them design their kitchen. Then they come to me.

Depending on the size of their home, it usually takes about an hour to go through the layouts. They might come back to me later in the day after completing other rooms to make any final amendments and make sure everything is perfect.

On days when we don’t have customers, the work doesn’t stop! I catch up on admin, make sure all site instructions have been sent out, and prepare for the next customers to arrive.  I’m also always on the look out for new trends and products to ensure we are offering the latest and best products to our customers.

How do you help customers bring their dream home to life?

It’s great when customers bring along mood boards and inspiration images of the style they are after, as this can help them visualise their ideas, and gives me a guide of what options they might like.

Kennedy works mainly on the layout and floor plans, helping customers choose things such as electrical sockets, light fittings and radiators.

What’s is the best thing about your role?

I really enjoy the entire design process and the bespoke approach we take at Beal. It’s great to offer so much choice and flexibility, and customers are often surprised at just how bespoke Beal Homes are compared to what they may expect from a new build.

We have a huge array of options available to make each customers’ home completely unique to them, so it’s really rewarding to provide such a personal experience and help them create their dream home.

What is your favourite interior design trend at the moment?

I really like neutrals but paired with walnut and dark accents to add warmth. It also helps to create different textures within a room.

I really like how walnut pairs with the right accents to soften it.

There are hundreds of options to choose from in our Design Lounge.

What is your favourite upgrade?

I like the black doors; they add a modern twist to any home and have become even more popular since we have displayed them in the Bishop’s Green and The Greenways show villages.

What trends are you expecting to see next season?

I think we are going to see lots of traditional features paired with contemporary twists. For example, I expect we’ll see statement features like arches, cornices and panelling paired with modern accent pieces and colours.

What attracted you to join Beal Homes?

I’ve been working in design for the past ten years and have always loved it, especially the architectural side.

Having worked at other housebuilders and hearing positive things about Beal, I was drawn to the company’s excellent reputation and the praise from people who have bought Beal homes.

The Design Lounge is also really impressive and showcases the quality and range of options that Beal offers, which was a big selling point for me.

What do you do to relax away from work?

I have a dog, so I spend a lot of time on walks, and I love a bit of retail therapy!
