First-time buyers Sam Laybourne and her partner Lewis Alcock have joined the growing community at our Pilgrim’s Walk development in Hessle, East Yorkshire.

Primary school teacher Sam and college tutor Lewis, who are both 30, moved into their three-bedroom Dalton home in July along with their pet tortoise, Herbert!

Tell us about your Beal home and why you love it so much.

We’re first-time buyers and previously lived in a rented city centre apartment, without an outdoor area. We love the garden, space and layout at Pilgrim’s Walk and really enjoy watching the squirrels and wildlife in the garden. Our tortoise Herbert loves it!

The location is perfect, moving here has cut Lewis’ commute by about half an hour. Our home is so light, airy and quiet. This is our forever home.

What are the best things about being part of the community at Pilgrim’s Walk?

We’ve enjoyed getting to know our neighbours. We’ve all been through the moving experience together and it’s nice to see more people settling in. It’s already a nice community with a mixture of residents, including families, retired people and young professionals. Everyone here appreciates the quiet, calm community.

How did you find the service from Beal?

The house is so much bigger than where we previously lived and we’re delighted with it.
