To celebrate our brilliant Beal team, and the work they do to make sure everything runs so smoothly, we’ve launched our “Take Five” series.

“Take Five” will feature a different member of the Beal team each month, asking them everything from why they joined Beal and their favourite house type, to how they unwind outside of work and a secret fact about themselves.

This month, we catch up with Sarah Walker, Office & HR Administrator, who plays an important role in keeping our office ticking over!

Tell us about your job and what’s the best thing about it.

My role is really varied. I help to look after the general office and HR duties at Beal. I’m part of a team that ensures the office runs smoothly – that everything is where it should be and in working order so that everyone in the office can get on with their work easily.

The HR side of my role is very varied and interesting. My tasks range from recruitment and arranging contracts for new starters to arranging events for staff.

I also assist our Construction Director, Andy, with administrative matters as well as helping to organise and oversee staff training.

What attracted you to join Beal Homes?

I was recommended by a friend. She told me how the company had helped her develop personally and what a great bunch of people work here.

I researched the company and saw that it was family-run – that really appealed to me.

My friend was right – this is a fantastic place to work and the people are great. I feel lucky to enjoy coming to work each day.

What is your favourite Beal development and house type and why?

I really love the area around the Fruit Market in Hull, so I think living there must be fab.

I’m looking forward to our latest developments starting so I can see a new site and how it develops from start to finish.

The Haxby looks stunning, so I’d have to say that’s my favourite Beal house type!

What do you do to relax away from work?

I enjoy socialising with friends and inviting them over to my house for food and drinks. I also love gardening.

I like to read and I love binge watching series on Netflix and watching live bands. I really enjoy walking and getting out into the countryside.

Tell us something about yourself that your Beal colleagues don’t know.

I always wanted a pet hamster, and wanted to call it Dolly – after Dolly Parton.

Unfortunately, when I got a hamster, I ended up getting a boy … so I called it Kenny, after Kenny Rogers instead!
