At Beal, we know the most important part of our business is the people. As a family-owned company, we want our staff to feel like they are part of our work family.
That’s why we’ve launched a new monthly series – “Take five” – in which we ask a different member of the Beal team five questions about who they are, how they joined us, what they do and what they most enjoy about working for Beal.
This month, we caught up with Laura Proctor, Senior Sales Executive.
Tell us about your job and what’s the best thing about it.
The main part of my job is selling the amazing homes Beal build – I actually own one myself! But the most important part is building a relationship with our customers which starts when they reserve a plot and goes right through to completion and beyond.
That process can sometimes take 12-18 months, so it’s really important to keep buyers fully up to speed on what is happening with their home and to support them with wider aspects of the house-buying process too.
I love meeting new customers and I get a real buzz from seeing them reserve their new dream home.
What attracted you to join Beal Homes?
I really wanted to get into sales, but with no previous experience I was finding it hard to even get an interview.
I have two family members who also work for Beal. They always spoke so highly of the company and one of them spoke to the Sales and Marketing Director and helped to arrange an interview.
Here I am today!
What is your favourite Beal development and house type and why?
I live in a Swainby on the Kings Vale development, at Kingswood Parks in Hull, which is perfect for my family as it’s spacious upstairs as well as down.
It has four double bedrooms, which is great for us and the children. It’s got a beautiful bay window at the front of the house, a large garage and a lovely garden. It’s big and spacious but it still feels cosy. It’s perfect for our family!
I also love the Butterwick and will downsize to that one day – I love the look of it from the outside and it’s so well designed internally.
I managed sales for the Kings Vale II development for 18 months, from start to finish, and had the most amazing customers, so that development will always be special to me.
What do you do to relax away from work?
When I’m not at work I enjoy reading, having long hot baths and spending time with my family and friends.
Tell us something about yourself that your Beal colleagues don’t know.
I’m quite an open book really, so there’s not much mysterious about me, I’m afraid!
