John Ellis, Site Manager at Beal’s King’s Fold development in Kingswood, Hull, has been recognised among the best in the industry after winning a Seal of Excellence in the NHBC Pride in the Job Awards.
John, who has been part of our team for 21 years, received a Quality Award earlier this year before progressing to the next stage of the competition and securing the prestigious Seal of Excellence.
Run by the National House Building Council (NHBC), the Pride in the Job Awards recognise site managers for their consistency, attention to detail, leadership, technical expertise and approach to safety.
We’re incredibly proud of John and his achievement, which also reflects the hard work of the wider team at King’s Fold.
21 years of building with Beal
After being announced as a Seal of Excellence winner at the NHBC Pride in the Job Awards ceremony this September, John described the achievement as a highlight of his career.
John said: “Progressing through the Pride in the Job Awards and going on to win the Seal of Excellence is a clear career highlight for me. I was just over the moon to be recognised for the work my team and I have done at King’s Fold. We are all really proud of the work we do, and I think it shows.
“Beal has always done right by me. After Richard and his dad gave me the opportunity all those years ago to join the business, I haven’t looked back. King’s Fold might even see me right through to retirement, so hopefully I can end my career on a high.
“Winning this award is a real testament to the whole team, not just myself. A football manager wouldn’t stand a chance without the passionate and skilled lads beneath you. A lot of credit goes to the lads.”
John joined Beal as a joiner more than two decades ago and has since worked on a number of the company’s flagship developments as a Site Manager, including St Mary’s View in Beverley and the Fruit Market in Hull. He has spent the past two and a half years at King’s Fold.
Setting the standard on site
Beal’s Construction Director Andy Devine praised John for his achievement and long-standing dedication to delivering high-quality homes.
Andy said: “John is a fantastic example of the standards we strive for at Beal. To have someone who has been part of the business for more than 20 years reach this level of recognition is something we can all be incredibly proud of.
“John’s commitment to quality, his leadership on site and the respect he has for the people around him have all played a huge part in this achievement. He has built an excellent reputation throughout his time with Beal, and this award is fitting recognition of the professionalism and dedication he brings to his role every day.”
John’s achievement continues Beal’s strong record in the NHBC Pride in the Job Awards, with the company now recognised for four consecutive years.
Previous winners include Phil Evenden in 2023, Danny Towle and Jason Amies in 2024, and Danny Towle and Pete Hodgins in 2025. Jason also went on to win a Seal of Excellence and the overall Regional Winner title in the Medium Builder category.
