Two of our site managers have been recognised among the best in the industry by winning Quality Awards in the NHBC Pride in the Job Awards.
John Ellis, Site Manager at King’s Fold, and Pete Hodgins, Site Manager at Thonock Vale, received the awards for their outstanding commitment to quality and excellence following a rigorous judging process.
Each site manager was assessed by industry experts across key areas, including consistency, attention to detail, leadership, technical expertise, and health and safety.
We’re incredibly proud of John and Pete for this fantastic achievement. The Pride in the Job Awards, run by the National House Building Council (NHBC), are regarded as the gold standard for excellence in housebuilding, making this a well-deserved recognition of their commitment to quality.

A word from our 2026 winners
This marks the second consecutive year that Pete has received a Quality Award, following another successful year leading the team at Thonock Vale in Gainsborough, North Lincolnshire.
Having joined Beal eight years ago, Pete has worked on several flagship developments, including the Fruit Market in Hull and The Greenways in Goole, before becoming Site Manager at Thonock Vale almost four years ago.
Pete said: “When I first started at the development, there were only three or four plots. Now, when I look around, we’ve essentially built a small village, and that’s incredibly rewarding.
“Our Construction Director Andy Devine gave me the opportunity to become Site Manager at Thonock Vale almost four years ago, and to win this award for a second time feels amazing. Although it’s an individual award, it’s a real team effort and I couldn’t do it without everyone around me.”
Reflecting on last year’s awards ceremony, Pete said: “The awards are such an amazing day, and last year blew me away. I hadn’t been to one before. They call it the Oscars for housebuilding and it absolutely lives up to that.”
John, who has been part of the Beal family for 21 years and has led the King’s Fold development in Kingswood, Hull, for the past two and a half years, said: “What I enjoy most about my role is seeing the finished homes come together and the happiness they bring to our customers.
“I’m over the moon to have won this award. After more than 20 years with Beal, this is the first time I’ve received this recognition, and I honestly couldn’t be more thrilled.”
Commitment to quality
Our Construction Director Andy Devine praised both site managers for their achievements. He said: “I’m absolutely delighted to see both John and Pete recognised with these awards. It’s thoroughly deserved.
“This recognition reflects the way they approach their roles every single day. They consistently deliver exceptional quality, lead their teams brilliantly and never lose sight of the high standards our customers expect.”
Andy added: “While the award is presented to an individual, it is also a testament to the wider site teams who support them and how Beal is committed to delivering high-quality homes for every customer.”
John and Pete will now go on to compete for the next stage of the Pride in the Job Awards, where they will be considered for Seal of Excellence and Regional Awards, due to be announced in autumn 2026. The national Supreme Award winners will be revealed in early 2027.
A consistent record of excellence
These latest successes mean we have now been recognised in the NHBC Pride in the Job Awards for four consecutive years, underlining our unwavering commitment to quality.
In 2023, Phil Evenden, then Site Manager at West Hill II in Kirk Ella, East Yorkshire, was among the Quality Award winners.
In 2024, Danny Towle and Jason Amies, Site Manager at Turpin’s Chase in Welton, East Yorkshire, received Quality Awards, with both also going on to win Seal of Excellence Awards. Jason was additionally named the overall Regional Winner in the Medium Builder category, underlining our consistent focus on quality and the strength of our construction management team.
In 2025, Danny Towle, Site Manager at Bishop’s Green in Welton, near Lincoln, and Pete Hodgins both received Quality Awards.
