Senior solicitor and businessman Simon Lunt joins Beal Board
Mr Lunt will bring his extensive legal and commercial expertise to the Beal Board
Award-winning housebuilder Beal Homes has appointed high-profile senior solicitor and businessman Simon Lunt as a Non-Executive Director.
Mr Lunt, Senior Partner at Hull-based Gosschalks Solicitors, will bring his extensive legal and commercial expertise to the Beal Board.
Mr Lunt joined Gosschalks in 1976 and became partner in 1978. Specialising in company law and corporate work, Mr Lunt was appointed Senior Partner in 2000 and regularly assists and advises clients on their commercial strategy.
Mr Lunt is also a Director of his own group of property businesses and holds various other Board positions, including as Chairman of Hull-based contact centre business ResQ and as a Non-Executive Director of Hessle-based plastic components manufacturer Bridgewood and long-established Hull-based construction company Houlton. In addition, Mr Lunt is a member of the Council of the University of Hull and Chair of the university’s Audit Committee.
Mr Lunt was recently awarded the Lifetime Contribution Award in the Hull Daily Mail Business Awards 2017 in recognition of the leading role he has played in the region’s business community over the past four decades.
Richard Beal, Chairman and Managing Director of Beal Homes, said: “We’re delighted to welcome Simon to the Board. His vast experience and legal and commercial expertise will be a major asset and complement our exceptionally strong executive and non-executive line-up.”
Mr Lunt is well acquainted with the Beal business as Gosschalks is a long-term legal advisor to the company.
He said: “I’m looking forward to working with the Beal Board at a strategic level to support the company’s continuing growth.
“Beal is a great business with a proud track record of success going back almost 50 years and exciting prospects for the future.”
Beal’s Non-Executive Directors are led by John Beal, Non-Executive Chairman and joint founder of the business along with his brother Raymond, who sadly passed away in 2003. The other Non-Executive Directors are Wayne Bowser, a former North of England regional director for HSBC, and Catherine Salkeld, a founding partner of Yorkshire Financial Management.
Mr Lunt’s appointment follows the recent retirement of long-standing Non-Executive Director David Curtis, a well-known local businessman who served on the Board for more than 10 years.
The Non-Executive Directors work closely with the Beal executive team of Richard Beal; Sue Waudby, Sales and Marketing Director; Richard Costall, Land Director; and John Goodfellow, Construction Director; and newly-promoted Associate Directors Guy Jewitt, Associate Technical Director; Chris Murphy, Associate Land Director; and Jason Williams; Associate Finance Director.
Next year Beal marks its 50th anniversary of building high-quality homes in East Yorkshire and Lincolnshire and the company is acknowledged for its passion for quality and customer service.
The company recently claimed the Housebuilder of the Year title in the prestigious Insider Yorkshire Property Industry Awards 2017, in addition to being named Housebuilder of the Year in the Yorkshire Residential Property Awards 2016 and winning the Best Customer Satisfaction Initiative award at the 2015 national Housebuilder Awards.
